SUMMARY:Medieval Identities: Exploring Seal Matrices. A talk and workshop with Laura Miucci
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered about peoples’ relationships with identity in Medieval Cornwall? \nHow could they prove a letter came from them? \nOr that a shipment of their produce arrived? \nWith seals of course! \nJoin Laura Miucci as we explore Medieval society – through their seal matrices! We will begin with a short talk exploring some of the real-life examples of seals: all found in Cornwall! From the merchant class copper-alloy trading seals\, to personalised silver seals with intricate designs. \nThis holistic talk-workshop will explore how people interacted with identity\, and in turn\, how we see ourselves today. \nAfter the talk\, we will have a go at designing our own individual seal matrix. And of course\, they can be taken home as a keepsake. \nLaura is a qualified archaeologist and the former Finds Liaison Officer for Cornwall & Isles of Scilly\, so please feel free to bring along any seal matrices you may have at home for identification. \nTickets are £12 each (plus booking fee). \nBook your space directly with Laura via the link here: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/lorepiece/2294506?date=2026-10-22

SUMMARY:Forgotten Women\, Sacred Landscapes: The Female Saints of Cornwall - a talk with Evie Bond
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe landscape of Cornwall is filled with the traces of its saints. Their names linger in villages\, churches\, holy wells\, and ancient stories. Yet many of Cornwall’s female saints\, once honoured and celebrated\, have largely faded from view. \nJoin historian and medievalist Evie Bond as she uncovers the lives\, legends\, and folklore of Cornwall’s female saints. From miraculous journeys and sacred springs to enduring local traditions\, discover how these women helped shape the landscapes and communities of Cornwall\, and why their stories still matter today. \nThe talk will last approximately 50 minutes and will be followed by a Q&A session. No prior knowledge is required. Whether you are interested in Cornish history\, folklore\, storytelling\, or the hidden histories of women\, all are welcome. \nTickets cost £15\, and places are very limited. Book directly with Evie via email at : cornwallhist@outlook.com\nConcession tickets are available.
