PENZANCE ROLL OF HONOUR
The Penzance Roll of Honour is available for viewing in the small chapel in Penlee Memorial Garden.
As this Roll of Honour contained scant details, work commenced several years ago to research and compile a more comprehensive and fitting record of those who made the supreme sacrifice. Against all those named the roll now includes rank, decorations, unit and place of death together with a short biography. There are still a few gaps but it is hoped that the missing information will soon come to light. The enlargement of Penzance borough has also been taken into account with the inclusion of Gulval, Heamoor, Newlyn, Paul and Mousehole. The total number of names is now 655 broken down as follows:
Boer War 8
Great War 380
World War II 260
Korean War 3
Other conflicts 4
The new Roll of Honour, printed and bound, was formally presented to Penzance Town Council to mark the 400th year since the granting of the charter to the town.
