Visit Us
The Morrab Library is open to members and visitors.
We are open Tuesday to Saturday 10am – 4pm.
You can find us in the Morrab Gardens – here is a link to the map.
Our accessibility information can be found here.
Parking at the library is limited and priority is given to volunteers, & members who require special access. Please at the desk ask before leaving your car outside.
Dogs, with the exception of assistance dogs, are not permitted in the library with the exception of the Reception room.
With the exception of accessing our paper and photographic archive collections, no appointment is necessary to visit. The Photo Archive is open on Thursday mornings to members and visitors. If you can’t visit then, email the team on photoarchive@morrablibrary.org.uk, or calling the library to pass on a message to the team.
To access our paper archive collection, please make an appointment with library staff. For non-members, we ask for an archive fee of £10.
It is possible for members to book a room on the first floor in which to work. Reserved desks are labelled accordingly, so if you haven’t pre-booked but find a table that has not been reserved, you are welcome to use that.
Library books should be returned to staff and volunteers at the reception desk.
The members’ common room is partially reopened, and it is possible to make a cup of tea or coffee in the kitchen and take it with you around the building as before. At this stage however, it isn’t possible to remain in the kitchen beyond preparing your drink.
Further information for Day Visitors…
We hope you enjoy accessing our beautiful spaces and amazing collections.
A day visitor’s fee of £5 can be paid in Reception.
There are a few important things you may find useful to know…
You are welcome to sit at any table in the library. “Reserved” signs are placed on some tables for members who can book in advance; please avoid sitting at these tables during the specified time. You will find upstairs is much quieter than the ground floor.
We have WiFi and there are signs dotted around the building displaying the password.
If you would like a map to help you find your way around we have them in Reception. Also, please don’t hesitate to ask staff or volunteers any questions you have, including searching for specific books, subjects or other collections not on open access.
You are welcome to make a hot drink (and enjoy a biscuit) and you can take it to your table. Ask staff to show you the kitchen.

Having a look around…?
Visitors are welcome to look around – please consult Library staff or volunteers when you arrive, and consider our members as you move around the building.
You will be asked to leave large bags at reception.
We would be grateful if you would consider a donation by cash or card – payable at the reception desk.
By helping us, you can ensure that The Morrab Library remains an important community resource in Penzance.
