The Twelve Days Of Herbert Thomas

11/12/2021 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

As many know, the talk programme we offer has become incredibly popular with our members, and we are aware that many others miss out on the chance to attend using our current first in, first served approach. So we are going to trial a new system, which we hope will be significantly fairer to all of our members.

The first of these trials will go ahead for this event  – Camidge & Stringer (two of our brilliant members) will be performing “The Twelve Days of Thomas Herbert, 1866-1951” –  a special Christmas-related tribute to the journalist and editor of the Cornishman of many years.

If you’d like to attend, get in touch by email enquiries@morrablibrary.org.uk or phone 01736 364474 before Friday 3rd December, and we’ll add your name to the ballot.

We’ll then draw out names and let you know if you’ve been successful. (If you don’t hear from us, please assume you have not been fortunate this time.)

This will be a really fun event, so enter your name in the ballot!

Come and share the many Cornish christmases throughout the life of Herbert Thomas ( 1866-1951), journalist for over sixty years and editor of the Cornishman newspaper for forty years. He was quite the local celebrity, but also a poet, mining expert, songwriter, adventurer and a larger-than-life character! Herbert’s life will be served up with all the seasonal trimmings including newspaper stories, advertisements and much, much more because Herbert’s story is the story of the news in Cornwall.

A light-hearted, multi-media performance with music, humour and plenty of nostalgic photos and films from CAMIDGE & STRINGER.

“A wonderful double-act, who combine humour and fact-finding to bring true stories to life… laughs a-plenty” – Cornishman

Suggested donation £5.
