15/01/2020 @ 14:00

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT IS NOW FULLY BOOKED – please contact us if you want to be added to the reserve list.

For our first talk in the New Year we welcome local author and Morrab Library Trustee Susan Soyinka. A Silence That Speaks: a Family Story Through and Beyond the Holocaust is an extraordinary family story coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the liberation of German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz in January 2020.

An extraordinary story, spanning eight generations, of one family’s struggle to deal with the impact and legacy of the Holocaust.

Susan spent 20 years researching her Viennese Jewish family history, and their fate during World War Two. The journey took her back 200 years, and across four continents, offering a unique insight into the inner workings of the Nazi regime in Austria. Join her on this journey, made all the more poignant, as 27th January 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, where several members of her family perished.
