“The Morrab Library has become a second home – all because of the friendly and supportive staff, unique collections and study rooms lined with books, not to mention the best sea views in Penzance. I would highly recommend it, but I would rather keep it all to myself!”
The Morrab Library is a very special place in Penzance – a sanctuary for reading, research, creativity, and community for over two centuries. As Cornwall’s only independent library, it holds a unique place in the cultural life of our town and county.
But like many libraries and museums across the UK, we are facing very real financial pressures.
While we are fortunate to have reserves that provide short-term stability, this is not sustainable – and we know that we must act now to close this gap and protect the long-term future of the library.
That’s why we have launched The Friends of The Morrab Library scheme, as a focused fundraising initiative.
This is a heartfelt appeal to our valued membership – more than 900 strong – to consider becoming a Friend by setting up a regular donation by direct debit.
Whilst there aren’t any perks or special benefits, please understand that this is about supporting something you care deeply about and helping to ensure it remains here for future generations.
However small the donation, it really will help. Regular giving allows us to plan with confidence, meet day-to-day running costs, and continue offering the services, space, and collections that make The Morrab Library so special.
