Our Jenner Room is a true treasure trove of inform Our Jenner Room is a true treasure trove of information about our county. One publication - The Cornish Year, has the October dates you should be aware of - including Allantide, of course.

With superstitions and folktales in mind for the month of October - we searched the drawers of pamphlets and paraphernalia in the Jenner room and found ‘Cornish Sayings, Superstitions and Remedies’.

Some sound advice to remember then:
- The fire hook and prong should be crossed to keep out witches.
- A hole must be left in one corner of the wall of a house for the piskies to come in and out.
- You will shortly be receiving money if there are bubbles in your tea.

Photo Friday today relates to the supposed birthpl Photo Friday today relates to the supposed birthplace of King Arthur.

The scene looks suitably dramatic - showing the size and scale of the ruins.

If you fancy brushing up your knowledge at any point on the legend - do pop in and browse the Jenner Room for links between the mythos and Cornwall.

As this month is the lead up to Halloween (or Alla As this month is the lead up to Halloween (or Allantide - also known as Saint Allan's Day or the Feast of Saint Allan, a Cornish festival that was traditionally celebrated on the night of 31 October) we thought we would highlight some Cornish folklore related items from our collection.

These images and books from our collection will link to stories, costumes, traditions and more, so keep your eyes peeled.

Found in our Jenner Room - the first in this little series is a book all about the Hobby Horse! The essay concentrates on Padstow, but also dives into other locations with their versions of the tradition.
