You may have heard that the Cornish language – Ker

You may have heard that the Cornish language – Kernewek – is getting the highest level of protection under a European treaty. It will now have Part Three status, the same as Welsh, Irish Gaelic and Scots Gaelic. This means Kernewek will be officially recognised and safeguarded for the future.

A reminder that you can borrow books in the Cornish language, and about how to learn Kernewek, from the library.

Our Photo Friday this week shows the reflection on the water of three figures perched on a wreckage.

'Our Lizzy' (pictured) sank off Penlee Point at 0300 hours but all the crew were picked up by the 'Water Lily'. There was a court case regarding the lack of lights on both vessels. Both vessel's skippers were fined £5.

Don’t forget we host a Relaxed Book Group at the library, led by the lovely Jo Buckingham. The next session takes place on Tuesday 25th November from 2pm-3pm.

This friendly group is for anyone who loves books but doesn’t want the pressure of a traditional book club. Rather than reading a specific book, we share what’s on our bookshelf or simply come for tea, biscuits and company in the beautiful atmosphere of The Morrab library. As we prepare for our Christmas Fair this Saturday

As we prepare for our Christmas Fair this Saturday, we won't be able to offer a Library tour this Friday afternoon. Room bookings will also be limited to the morning of Friday the 21st until 1.00pm.

Make sure to come down this weekend and see us for the Fair between 10am and 2pm on Saturday for an opportunity to support the Library and lots of small businesses, as well as get some of that Christmas shopping done.

We were recently presented with this incredible wooden replica of our beautiful Library by local crafter Tracey Russell.

She and her husband make tiny models of Penzance's historic and Iconic buildings from wood, and they will have a stall at our Christmas Fair on 22nd November.

We are so grateful for such a beautiful gift!
