A little bit of nautical terminology for our final A little bit of nautical terminology for our final Photo Friday of May.

‘Tucking a pilchard seine’ was when an exceptionally large catch was netted. The "tucker" was a smaller net used to keep the bulk of the catch in the main net (centre of picture) whilst the rest of the catch was carted away. This was reputedly one of the biggest "landings" recorded in this area, in the 1920s.

Year 10 student Coby joined us last week for some Year 10 student Coby joined us last week for some work experience. He shadowed the volunteers and learnt all about cataloguing, conservation, indexing the photo collections and more.

Coby won second prize in our Children's Short Story Competition last year (see link in bio), so we asked him to write us a blog sharing his experiences with us during his time here. See the link in bio to read it.
