Pop in to the Elizabeth Treffry Room to meet artis

Pop in to the Elizabeth Treffry Room to meet artists @nadiapetersart and @philiprileyresidency who are in residence here until 25th September. They have turned the room into their studio for the week & are creating pieces inspired by the library, with a particular focus on some of the rare books in our collection. We hope you'll pop in to see their work around the library & chat to the artists too! You can read about their work over on our blog (link in bio)

On Saturday 5th October, The Morrab Library will,

On Saturday 5th October, The Morrab Library will, for the first time, join hundreds of Fun Palaces nationally and internationally to be filled with free and fun activities for all ages.

Pop down to The Morrab Library between 10am-3pm for a day of stories, writing, workshops and much more. @acornishgeekletters will be running creative wellbeing workshops for all ages, including creative journaling, scratch art, watercolour, and more. There will be a notebook and pen for all attendees as long as stocks last.

And that’s not all! Our very own James Parnham-Kenny, who runs @multivaxinc on the days when he's not one of our Library Assistants, will be telling stories in the reading room, along with story making activities and a mini trail.

All of the Fun Palaces activities are FREE, for all and drop-in between 10am and 3pm. Link in bio.

We're delighted that Nadia Peters and Philip Riley

We're delighted that Nadia Peters and Philip Riley are our 'Artists in Residence' at the Library this week.

Visit the Elizabeth Treffry Room between 11am - 12pm until 24th September where the pair will be working each day. They will be creating artwork in situ and around the library and will then be giving a talk about their Residency on Wednesday 25th September (2pm).

Today we hosted a Study Morning about the Bayeux Tapestry with Mark Cottle.

He’s kindly shared a reading list with us featuring books that you can borrow from the Morrab Library about this subject. There’s also a small display of books on this subject in the Reading Room so have a look next time next time you’re in the Library.

Did you know, we have a poetry group at the Librar

Did you know, we have a poetry group at the Library that meets here fortnightly?

The Poetry Group is now entering its seventh year and there are a limited number of places for new members starting on Thursday 26th September.

The group meets on alternate Thursdays at 1.30pm at The Morrab to read and discuss poems by a variety of poets, chosen by a member of the group.

The first session of the new term will be on the poet A.E. Stallings.

There are still some spaces available at @theseawe

There are still some spaces available at @theseaweedinstitute ‘Seaweed Pressing’ workshop taking place at the Library this Saturday (14th).

Tickets are £40 via the link in our bio. The workshop runs from 10-1.30 & will be an opportunity to learn the Victorian craft of seaweed pressing, see examples of pressings from our archive, and will include a walk down to the foreshore to learn about sustainable harvesting and gather some seaweed to press.
