This wonderful book by Robert Macfarlane and Johnny Flynn, with beautiful illustrations by Emily Sutton, was one of the most recent children's books that we added to our children's collection. It's currently available to borrow from the New Books shelf in reception.

We're looking forward to welcoming Kate Morris to

We're looking forward to welcoming Kate Morris to the Library next Saturday (15th at 2pm) to give a talk about her memoir 'Three More Days'. Part diary, part memoir, part recipe book, part travelogue, part photo album - it is a true story about living and dying, loving and grieving. It tells how Kate Morris met her late husband, Todd, how they fell in love and married and how, not so very many years later, he died. She wanted him to matter, to not be forgotten, so she wrote.

During the afternoon, Kate will share personal stories and extracts from the book and then answer audience questions.

Please email enquiries@morrablibrary.org.uk or call 01736 364474 if you would like to come along to this event. It is free but donations are welcomed to help support The Morrab Library (suggested £5). Refreshments will be provided after the talk.

Travel through the myth and magic of West Penwith

Travel through the myth and magic of West Penwith in a writing workshop with storyteller Sue Field and writer Anna Chorlton from Cornish folktale project, Mazed.

In this FREE workshop taking place in #nationalstorytellingweek you will write your own original version of a traditional local tale, and become immersed in the places of piskies, witches, devils, dragons, and giants. Web tales written in the class may be published on the Mazed website.

On Holocaust Memorial Day, you may like to reflect by revisiting the talk by library member Ben Barkow last year. Ben read some poems that he wrote about his family’s experiences during the Holocaust, especially his great aunt Hilde and her siblings, who included his grandfather.

This Burns Night, as we mark the anniversary of Sc

This Burns Night, as we mark the anniversary of Scottish poet Robbie Burns, we want to remember and honour the life of one of our most loved members and friends, Des Hannigan, who passed away recently.

In 2022, Des presented a hugely entertaining afternoon of stories and verses and a recital of the bard’s famous narrative poem ‘Tam o’ Shanter’.
