Big Brother or Brave New World? Britain’s Relationship with Technology -Library Talk

We’re delighted to bring you another fascinating talk, this time from Stephanie Hare, researcher, broadcaster and author of ‘Technology Is Not Neutral: A Short Guide to Technology Ethics‘.

It seems that just about every new technology that we bring to bear on improving our lives brings with it some downside, side effect or unintended consequence. These issues can pose very real and growing ethical  problems for all of us. How do we understand and frame these debates, and work out a healthy relationship with technology?

In this talk Stephanie will address one of today’s most pressing problems: how to create and use tools and technologies to maximise benefits and minimise harms?

The talk will take place in the Reading Room on Wednesday 12th October at 2pm. £5 suggested donation to support Morrab Library. Refreshments will be served after the talk.
