There are still a few spaces available for artist There are still a few spaces available for artist Carolyn Savidge’s Biscuit Tin of Memories workshop.

The afternoon session is full, but there are still some spaces available in the morning.

This workshop is about expressing in words the things that are left unsaid, and using these collective fragments of text to create a paper quilt, which will be displayed in the library.

The Library’s next Relaxed Book Group session, led The Library’s next Relaxed Book Group session, led by the lovely Jo Buckingham, takes place on 26th May from 2pm-3pm. You can find out more details on our website or hear a word about the sessions from Jo, below:

‘This isn’t your typical book club, there’s no pressure. You don’t have to read anything, you don’t have to come every time, and you definitely don’t have to speak if you don’t want to.

If you enjoy books but hate the pressure of a traditional book club, this is for you. And if you’re someone who can’t stop talking about a book you’ve just read… it’s definitely for you too.’

Tomorrow is May Horns! Celebrated on the first Su Tomorrow is May Horns!

Celebrated on the first Sunday in May every year, it represents the coming of summer and the end of winter.

Will you be out to greet Old Ned? The crow, will ‘die’ three times en route from Newlyn to Penzance, overcome by ‘the devil of winter’. Reviving him means blowing your horns and whistles as loud as possible until he leaps back to life.

Have you managed to join in any festivities to celebrate May Day or the beginning of May in Cornwall?
