Abracadabra, alakazam! We have re-launched the children’s section of our website! With a fresh lick of paint, a puzzle or two and some fun activities - we wanted to provide a space to learn, play and share our experiences reading.

We aim to encourage readers of all ages to step through our red door and have a peak at the adventures that await on every page of our collection.

Do you know some silly rhymes? Book into our next

Do you know some silly rhymes? Book into our next Super Storytime with Library Assistant and Storyteller James (and Jasper the dragon!) for a funny time with Dr Seuss’ classic stories and then make some of your own rhymes.

Super Storytime is aimed at 4-8 year olds and will be taking place in the Reading Room on Wednesday 14th August from 10.30-12. Booking is essential so please let us know if you would like to come along so we can make sure we have enough cake! All children will need to be accompanied by an adult.

We loved welcoming Jodie Matthews and Ian Russell-Hsieh to the library today to talk about their debut novels, 'Meet Me At the Surface' and 'I'm New Here'. They inspired a number of attendees to pursue their writing dreams.

Thanks to Edge of the World bookshop for their brilliant support today too.

Our Archive Open Day has begun!

On display in the Reading Room today, you will find an array of treasures, including 17th-century religious plays, pressed ferns and mosses, the ten commandments written in Cornish, the expenses incurred in replacing the Logan Rock, a Greenham common diary and a handwritten children's magazine from 1854!

These fascinating archive treasures (and many more!) will be on display until 3pm today, so please do pop in to learn more about some of the important collections we care for.

The exhibition is FREE but donations are welcome to support the care of the collections.

Our friends at The Hypatia Trust are starting a n

Our friends at The Hypatia Trust are starting a new community reading group in September.
The Royal Literary Fund have created this programme to encourage people from all walks of life to discover original writing for free, while also rediscovering the joys of hearing stories and poems read aloud in a friendly group.

The group will be guided by Anna C Wilson, a published author living in St Buryan, who brings us this wonderful opportunity to connect through the power of story.

No homework involved and no need to buy any books. It is open to all – you don’t have to be a confident reader to attend.

The Reading Round will take place from 5th September at The Hypatia Trust on Chapel Street on Thursdays, from 10am-11.30am.
FREE to join, but pre-booking is essential as numbers are restricted. See link in bio for website for more details and to contact Anna.
